Big wheels keep on turning: this is the invitation to the pre-worldmeeting raid before the international meeting of 2cv friends in the czech republic from 28.7.-2.8.2009. it goes to an enlarged distributor of the last raid mosquito participants to finish some rumors about. the raid outofAUSTRIA will start with a meeting on the weekend 17.7. - 19.7. 2009 at the 3 country corner between germany, swiss and austria, around bregenz - in the heart of middle europe. it will lead along the austrian southside following the impressive landscape of the alps, crossing them as well as the borders in the south to join italy and slovenia, then turn north to cut through small austria to lead to the northern neighbour, czech republic. the raid will be organized in the tradition of raid mosquito as well as the former raid austria's following the worldmeeting in 2001. it is a 2cv based raid, we will drive in small groups on own responsibility. most overnight spots will be organized by local austrian 2cv clubs, sometimes we have to settle on an official campsite. be prepared to sleep in tent or car and to supply yourself with food as some places will have only basic facilities. the costs will be kept at a very reasonable level, it is not possible to name the exact amout today as a lot of detail arrangements have to be done. a part has to be paid as an registration fee in advance to make the binding inscription to the group. the raid is limited due to facts like campsite capacities, eg... i was infected with the idea to do this during participating on last raid mosquito, which i enjoyed so much. the double feature of a raid itself leading to a worldmeeting, and the encounter with such a special and nice group mostly of raid laponie and raid australia members impressed me much.

Keep on ducking: time is running - even faster than a 2cv ;-) so this is a info update for our upcoming raid this summer (or winter for our australian friends) from 17.7. - 27/28.7. from vorarlberg (xsiberg) to the 18. international meeting of 2cv friends. the group is growing, few places are still left... like usual, there are some problems with mail adresses (out of data, out of access, out of use), so please keep us informed if you know about problems with adresses used in this distributor (erik dammers adress seems not to work anymore, is another one known?) the organizers of the czech worldmeeting plan to open the gates one day earlier (monday) for preregistrated people. please give us a response about your desire to join the worldmeeting on monday or tuesday, and your state of preregistration!!! registration was possible until end of march at http://www.2cv2009.cz/index4_en.htm our route will meat a mixture of famous places/roads and more hidden hints. we plan to use some overnight spots for two times to make it possible to go in daytrips with a lighter car on the most spectacular mountain roads of the alps. the average distances will be kept not too long, usually 250-350km.

just a few weeks ... our group has grown, including now raiders from australia, finland, sweden, latvia, netherlands, belgium, france, croatia, germany and even austria ;-) all the 6 countries we will touch are members in the EC (european community) and share the same money (€) and no regular border checks, except our worldmeeting host czech republic. we will supply you with a general map of austria (1 : 600 000), which shows the whole raid, and our recommended route. except one regular camp site in slovenia we will spend the nights on places provided by local austrian 2cv clubs to bring to you the atmosphere of our 2cv meeting culture with beautiful environment and a campfire in the middle. thanks to birne, our webmaster, the raid-homepage is on air www.raid.2cv4.eu you will get a password for the raider login later, as we want to fill it with pictures of your team and car. so please send them! otherwise it can be possible that we find some pictures somewhere - better beware of this! ;-) the costs will be about € 80.- for 1 person with car and € 140.- for 2 or more persons with car. there can still be little variations as some things are still moving. this will include all 10 overnight spots, raid booklet, map and 2 very different typical austrian common meals. the raid ist based highway-free. when you desire to make a shortcut on the highway you need a toll vignette (10 days € 7,60) we will haunt for famous and hidden mountain roads to catch the unique beauty of the alps and some history in the middle of the heart of europe. see you soon!
latest news: please help us quick to fill the holes in our files. we need name & nation driver/co-driver type of car registration number e-mail mob-phone number (during raid) specialities? many people have send data, more or less complete. to make it easier for us this goes to everybody registrated. so please check the info you sent us again and complete it. thank you! there are also some empty places for your pictures, do you have some nice stuff? thanks again to everybody who has sent until now. becoming a tradition, we will have raidgames and casted a young dutch boygroup, 'the new ducklillies'. they will entertain, thrill and pain you with their lessons. ;-) bring a calculator! we organize raid-t-shirts, they will cost about € 15.- in black, high quality shirts with 4-colour-print of the new raid logo - get surprised! if you preorder we can calculate the amount better and take care of size-wishes (up to XXXXXL possible) ;-) a nice flight to all overseas raiders and see you soon!
last news: not much more than a week till we meet & start at langen... on the startpages you see the raidlogo, while captain krimson tells you the truth... keep an eye on the site, we will fill-up the raidbook with further information finally the prework seems to be done, we just look for a responsible for the raidweather, as we had here the worst presummer ever for the last weeks! any volunteers? ;-) hopefully all roads we want to meet will be cleared up after the lots of rain and even hail they had to face, snow-ploughs were cruisen around here, what is not exactly normal this time of the year. for friends out there which are not able to join the whole raid, we would like to invite you to hub, our raid finish at the austrian/czech/german border to meet together. from holy hub it's just a minor daytrip about 300km's up to the worldmeeting. we stay there the last 2 nights. you will find the details soon on the raidpage. in urgent cases we can supply you with an internet-access at the austrian overnight spots so bring your car, friends, stuff, credit-card, passport, warning-waistcoat, car-insurance and - most important of all - raid spirit! see you in a few days on the road! we are longing to meet you!
